How to Set Intentional Goals and Create a Vision for Your Quarter

At Quarterly, we believe that success starts with intention. Our planner is designed to help you define what truly matters, create a meaningful vision, and set actionable goals that drive progress. In this post, we’ll walk you through a simple framework to start your quarter with clarity and purpose.

Step 1: Set Your Intentions for the Quarter

Before diving into goal-setting, take a moment to reflect on what truly matters to you. Ask yourself:

  • What values do I want to guide my decisions this quarter?
  • What kind of person do I want to become?
  • What do I want to prioritize in my personal and professional life?

Highlight the 4-5 most important values to drive your life and work.

These values will serve as your compass, ensuring that your goals align with what truly matters and will drive your vision statement.Step 2: Create Your Vision Statement

A vision statement captures how you want to feel and what you want to achieve. It’s more than just a goal—it’s a reflection of your ideal self and life. Think of it as your motivational anchor.

Ask yourself:

  • How do I want to feel by the end of this quarter?
  • What impact do I want to make in my life and work?

Use the designated space in your planner to write a short but powerful vision statement. This will help you stay motivated when challenges arise.

Vision statement example:

I am the best version of myself. I feel rested and trust in my choices. I have a clear and calm mind. I am very intentional about my life. I love my family and especially my kids. I am in the best possible physical and mental state for being able to be fully engaged in my career. I bring my best self and feel a sustained motivation.

Step 3: Set Your Goals for the Quarter

Once you have your vision, it’s time to set 2-3 focused goals. Remember the SMART framework. Goals should be:  Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Here are a few strategies to ensure success:

✅ Break down goals into smaller, manageable steps

✅ Create an action plan for achieving each goal

✅ Check in routinely to monitor your progress

✅ Visualize yourself successfully reaching your goals

✅ Reward yourself when you hit key milestones

By taking the time to reflect, set intentions, and create a vision, you’re laying the foundation for a productive and fulfilling quarter.
